Service Family Accommodation

The Defence Housing Executive (DHE) now maintains Service Family Accommodation.   The DHE is a unified Housing Management Organisation within the MOD, which combines all 3 services under a single management unit.

Quarters are allocated through a central roster system.  Applications should be made by the Service person through their Commanding Officer at any time prior to joining the establishment concerned.

Accommodation Letting Information Service

This service has been set up to assist Naval Personnel to both find and let accommodation and property in the Gosport  and Portsmouth areas.  The service is run by SAFAB who hold information about properties available for let.  They keep a card index system with anything from bedsits and flats to large detached houses.   Prospective tenants are invited to enquire at SAFAB and if a property matches their requirements they will be put in touch with the owner.  Anyone who has a property for let may contact the office and details will be recorded and placed in the index.

Short Term Family Accommodation (STFAC)

These are specially allocated married quarters situated in the Rowner estate.  The STFAC offers fully furnished and equipped (colour tv included) 2/3 bedroom accommodation.   Service personnel may book this for family stays from 2 nights to 6 months.

Royal Sailors Home Club

The Home Club offers single and double rooms; suites are available for families.    There are excellent restaurant facilities, swimming pool, tv lounges, bars and many other amenities available to members and their families.
