Neighbourhood
watch planned for Rowner Estate! ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ is a familiar phrase and if organised well and supported by the local community the scheme can be an effective method of crime reduction and prevention. The Gosport HIVE in together with local Police representatives and the help of local residents is planning to establish Neighbourhood Watch schemes around the Rowner estate. The estate will be split into manageable areas. Each area will need the support of the residents to ensure that the scheme will work properly. A representative from each area is required to help distribute information and to act as a point of contact for residents and Police. The position can be shared to reduce the amount of work done by a single person and to stand in during leave periods. The HIVE will act as a focal point for the whole scheme and Paul (HIVE organiser) will attend any meetings, arrange the distribution of information and stand in when needed to help area representatives. If we work together we can crack crime! For more information contact Paul on 023 92341885. Back to top Volunteers are a vital part of the HIVE set up can take a lot of pressure off the Organiser. If you can spare a couple of hours a month please, please, please contact us. Volunteers are unpaid but from time to time the HIVE does received payment for distributing the People Matters magazine to all residents. As way of thank you to our volunteers all the money received for this service is shared amongst the helpers. The current rate for delivery of the magazine is 10p per mag. That’s £10 for 100 magazines, not bad for a few minutes work and the fresh air will do you good. For more information ring Paul (HIVE organiser) on 023 92341885. There will also be a section for readers comments. If you would like to make a comment please e-mail us at gosporthive@uku.co.uk . |
